On 21 February 1921 Mary Agnes Korfanta was brought into this world to join 11 other brothers and sisters to form an even dozen children of Mary and Jacinto Medeiros on the island of Oahu in the Territory of Hawaii. In 1937 Mary traveled to San Diego California to join her sister. In 1939 she wed Robert Cunningham. With this began a journey that would have Mary cross the continental United States two times, in 1943, with a 2 year old son, Bobby, in tow to bury her husband Robert. As a single working parent, raising an adventurous son, she worked as "Rosie the Riveter" building air planes in San Diego to support the war effort during the second world war. On 8 December 1945 she became Mary Korfanta when she wed Joseph Korfanta in San Diego, Ca. and began her next journey to Pinedale Wyoming. A tiny wahinnei girl in the middle of the Wyoming Mountains, she brought an attitude, a strength, understanding, love, and compassion, that would endure her to the family she would collect in the next 69 years. On 16 November 1946 Mary and Joe Korfanta brought Marilyn Jo into the family to join the journey. During those 69 years Mary and her family journeyed through Denver, Colorado for six months on the way to Honolulu, Hawaii for two years and back to Pinedale for a year. Then to Pocatello, Idaho in 1951 where Joe would earn a degree in Pharmacy in 1956. After a short 3 month journey to California, Mary and family journeyed to Casper, Wyoming. On 11 June 1978 Mary's family was increased by one when Matthew Joseph became a grandson that would bring a constant light to her life. Mary clothed the residents of Casper at Kassis, and directed Casper's population to the legal advice of Brown Drew Apostolos, until she retired from the work force in 1993. Mary completed her journey here on this earth on 12 February 2014 at Life Care Center in Casper. Mary's journey reached its end as she joined Matthew, Joseph, and Robert with our Lord. Those surviving Mary include her son Robert E. Cunningham of Emmett, Idaho. Her daughter Marilyn Jo Darnall of Casper, Wyoming, Her son-in-law Ralph Darnall and daughter-in-law Sheryl Cunningham. Mary is also survived by numerous grand-children, great grand-children, and great great grand-children. Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Mary Agnes Korfanta, 92, will be celebrated at 10:00am, on Monday, February 17, 2014, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church by Father Lucas Simango. Rite of Committal will be conducted at Highland Cemetery immediately following services. Visitation will be held from 11am-2pm on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Bustard's Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited at 7pm on Sunday, February 16, 2014 also at Bustard's Funeral Home
