Marvin F. Wohletz, born February 26th, 1935, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday December 18th, 2023.
He was born in Blain, Pennsylvania to Frank Joseph Wohletz and Eleanor Strauss (Martin) and was the youngest of seven children. He attended school in New Bloomfield County Pennsylvania until his graduation from Perry Joint High School in 1954. Though he joined the Air Force after high school, he did join the naval reserves during his senior year just to travel.
He signed up for the Air Force in May 1954 and was immediately stationed at Anderson Air Force Base in Guam, where he met the love of his life, Sylvia B Guerrero. The two met at a Christmas party in 1955 and wed just over a year later, on January 26th, 1956.
During his 20 years in the Air Force, he received many commendations for his work in telecommunications: in 1965 for his work at the First Strategic Aerospace Division at Vanderberg Air Force Base, from 1966 to 1967 where he was instrumental in building the telecommunications switchboard for NASA at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia, and from 1967 to 1969 meritorious service award for building a transportable telephone center for mobile communications at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines. He served for 20 years before he retired in May of 1974 from Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming. He owned his own construction company Midwestern Sales, before moving to Denver to work at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal, where he received commendations. They then moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, where he worked doing cabinetry at Falcon Jet Aircraft Corporation. Finally, they came back to Wyoming to be closer to family in 2001. They settled in Glenrock where they made numerous friends and were very involved in the community. He served as the district commander of the American Legion for several years. He was the chairman of committee for the Boys State of Glenrock Post 9 and would oftentimes help anyone in the community with their home repairs if needed.
He loved being in nature and would go for drives any chance he got. He did enjoy fishing and taught his children to appreciate the great outdoors. Marvin was a very talented woodworker - from bowls and vases to furniture and cabinetry. He will be sorely missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five of his siblings. He is survived by his wife of nearly 68 years, his daughters Michele (Greg) Warfield, Catherine (John) Ledbetter, and a son, Stewart (Cara) Wohletz. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Chris (Allison) Wohletz, Rev. Sara Warfield Shelly (Jeremy) Brown, Kari Warfield, Alex (Cassandra) Wohletz, Marissa (Richard) Fish, 10 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on December 27th, 2023, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Bustard's Funeral Home followed by a vigil and rosary. The funeral will be held the following day on December 28th 10:30am at Saint Patrick's Church, 400 Country Club Rd., Casper, WY 82609
