Marvin Heyd, 85, of Glenrock, passed away December 9, 2019. Marv was born on April 11, 1934, at home in Ismay, MT, the son of Christian and Christine (Sandmeier) Heyd. He grew up in Ismay and graduated from Ismay High School. He later married Carol Hicks, February 23, 1990, in Glenrock.
Son, father, brother, husband, cowboy, and especially horseman were some of the titles bestowed upon Marv throughout his life. He worked on many cattle ranches tending to and showing Black Angus cattle. As much as he enjoyed raising and showing cattle, his true passion was his horses. He always felt he had the biggest, best looking, and fastest horse around. Marv’s fervor for chariot racing took him all over Wyoming and Montana. He served as President of the Wyoming Chariot Racing Association, and he enjoyed recounting his tales of chariot racing which he shared with close friends, Roy Morgan and Randy Kintzler.
Marv is survived by his wife Carol, brother Leo, sister Lorraine, daughters Darla (Doug), Darcy (Rod), Jackie (Rich), sons Dennis (Peggy), Troy (Stacy), Dean (Lynn), 15 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lorenz; sister, Ella; sister-in-law, Viola; sister-in-law, Margaret; brother-in-law, Clark; and step-son Billy.
Marv’s friends and family will remember his cheerful, exuberant attitude, and contagious laugh.
