Dr. Marlo Gene Prugh Dr. Marlo "Gene" Prugh passed away unexpectedly on January 15, 2014. He was born on May 9, 1935, to Merle and Helen Prugh in Greybull, Wyoming. Gene graduated from Natrona County High School in 1953 and from the University of Wyoming in 1957 with a degree in pharmacy. He began his career as a pharmacist at Westridge Pharmacy in Casper. On August 4, 1962, Gene married the love of his life, Pansy, at the First United Methodist Church in Casper, Wyoming. Shortly thereafter, he began dental school at the University of Illinois - Chicago, graduating in 1966. After the birth of their daughter, Denise, in 1967, the family returned to Casper where Gene started his own dental practice. He practiced dentistry for 44 years and, to the sadness of his patients, he retired in 2010. Gene was a devoted husband and father. His passion for dentistry was influential to Denise as she followed in her Daddy's footsteps. For the past twelve years, his grandsons, Dane and Drew Rasmussen, lovingly referred him to as "Papa". They were the "apples of his eye" and they were blessed by his involvement in their lives. They would often enjoy model boats, trains and gliders when the wind cooperated. Gene was an active member of the community and served as president of the Wyoming Dental Association and Casper Rotary Club. He also was involved in many Casper musical societies including: FUMC Chancel Choir, Casper Civic Chorale, Casper City Band and Community Concert Association. As of late, Gene enjoyed his time as a member of the ROMEO Breakfast Club. Gene enjoyed traveling with his family and friends to near and far places including Alcova Lake, Jackson Hole, China, Europe, the Panama Canal and Peru. He enjoyed sightseeing as well as camping. Gene also enjoyed woodworking, including building a cabin on Casper Mountain. He had a great sense of humor and was the song leader a.k.a. "joke teller" for the Casper Rotary Club for many, many years. Gene is survived by his daughter Dr. Denise Prugh Rasmussen, husband Ted and boys, Dane and Drew, all of Casper. He is also survived by his two brothers, John Prugh, from Waco, Texas and Geary Prugh from Casper. Gene's musical talents, wit and gentle kindness and smile will be missed by all. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, January 24, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church of Casper followed by a lunch reception at the Casper Petroleum Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church at 302 E. 2nd St., Casper, WY 82601 or the Casper Rotary Foundation at P.O. Box 496, Casper, WY 82601.
