Marjorie Jewel Parker Dunn was born in Handley, TX on April 8, 1918, to Blanche Magara Leatherman Parker and Marvin Middleton Parker. She was the second child of six. She attended school in Texas until the sixth grade. Due to the Depression, the family moved to Hutchinson, Kansas, where her father had obtained work at the Power Plant. Marjorie graduated from Hutchinson High in 1938. She attended Business College excelling in Shorthand and Typing. At the request of her older brother Rex, she traveled to San Francisco to assist his young family while he was at sea. Later, when Rex and his family left the states, Marjorie went to work for Boeing. While in San Francisco, she met her husband Alvan Dunn, who was in the Navy. When he became an officer, the crisis crossed the United States until he was on Oahu, Hawaii, where they later divorced. Marjorie continued living on Oahu and worked Guard as a secretary. She often said that she trained several Admirals and retired before she had to train another. Her Mother, Blanche, lived with her for many years. As Blanche's health declined, Marjorie moved to Casper, WY to be close to family to have help with her care. Marjorie enjoyed learning new things, she took a cake decorating class and after completion designed many cakes for special occasions for friends and co-workers, including a wedding cake. She was a member of the toast-mistresses, she sold and taught classes on needlecrafts and enjoyed reading, cross word puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. Marjorie was active in her Mormon Faith and served as Primary Teacher and also on the Boy Scout Advancement Board. She is preceded in death by her Father, Marvin Parker; Mother, Blanche Leatherman Parker; Siblings Rex, Patrick, Robert, Billie Parker Rodgers and Don as well as one Great, Great Niece Tammy Jean Rodgers. She is survived by nieces: Billie Jane Rodgers, Helen Parker Ostien, Marsha Rodgers, Pam Parker, Patty Parker Clarke, Polly Parker Potter and Sally Parker. Nephews: Merlin Gene Rodgers, Rex Parker, Mark Parker, Jerry Rodgers and Mike Parker. 14 Great Nieces and Nephews and 11 Great, Great Nieces and Nephews.
