Marie A. Bartenhagen

Marie Anne Bartenhagen, age 90, passed away on February 5, 2024 in Casper, Wyoming.

Marie Anne Bartenhagen was born July 29, 1933, in Garryowen, MT on her family farm up Reno Creek to Emerson and Ella Eshleman. She graduated from Hardin High School in Montana in 1950. In December of 1950, she married Kenneth Hennings and eventually had two children, Patty and Keith.

Years later, in 1976 she married Jack Bartenhagen. They were married for 38 years until Jack passed in 2015.

Throughout her life, she worked for the telephone company in Casper, WY as an operator. By 1989 she soon retired from AT&T after 25 years of service.

After retirement, Jack and Marie spent their time traveling where they visited Hawaii 10 times among many other destinations. She also enjoyed spending time with other retirees of the telephone company where they volunteered their time to make hug a bears for the local pediatric unit in the hospital. Alongside traveling and volunteering, Marie spent most of her time sewing, baking, playing the organ, painting beautiful scenic views, and eating at her favorite restaurants like Texas Roadhouse and The Village Inn. When taking her family out to dinner she would say “I’m paying for this with my beer and cigarette money”.

Marie was beautiful inside and out and was grateful to share her life with her daughter, Patty Flack (Hank) of Mitchell, SD; daughter in law, Bonny Thompson (Cheyenne) of Tuttle, OK; Sister in law, Shirley Harbin and sons of Winston Salem, NC; two brothers, John Eshleman (Joy) of Billings, MT, and Bill Eshleman of Hardin, MT; grandchildren, Marie Olsen (Jay), MaryEllen Barington (Marty), Michelle Felt (Nathaniel), Jason O’Briant (Jackie), and Sarah Colvin (Geary); step granddaughter, Jennifer Barker (Adrian); great grandchildren, Kassi Barington-Steele (Wiley), Kylie Barington, Shannon O’Briant, Terrence Lara, Mariah Lara, Brandon Olsen, Jessa Olsen, Ezekiel Felt, and Naiya Felt; great great grandchildren, Isabella Barington-Steele, Dawsyn Barington-Steele, Kellen Wicks, and Stella Lara

She is preceded in death by her parents Emerson and Ella Eshleman; husband Jack Bartenhagen; Son, Keith O’Briant; sister, Dorothy Scalley; brother, Dan Eshleman; brother, Bob Eshleman; great grandchildren, Riley Paul Flack-Barington, Raquel Ann Flack-Olsen, and Matthew Jay Flack-Olsen.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thurs. Feb. 8, 2024 in Memorial Gardens.
