Marian Atkinson

Marian Jo (Spangler) Atkinson, age 75, of Casper, Wyoming passed away Sunday May 1, 2022.

Jo was born September 16, 1946, in Wheatland, Wyoming to Charley and Irene Spangler. Growing up, Jo was an avid swimmer and spent her time in a close-knit community of family and friends in Wheatland.

She married the boy with the fast car, Stephen Lamar Atkinson on September 19, 1964. After exploring the state of Wyoming together, they settled in Casper and put down their roots. Along the way, they had three beautiful girls: Kristi Kay, Brenda Colette, and Stephanie Jo.

Jo worked in many different settings: retail, banking, and administrative duties at the hospital. Jo had a way with people and connected with them wherever she was with her smile and quick sense of humor.

Jo loved to be in the mountains- spending her time four-wheeling (especially driving through mud puddles), camping, and exploring. She enjoyed a good book with a cup of chai. A great joy in her life was being with her family and watching her grandkids grow.

She is survived by her loving husband, Steve, and their three daughters: Kristi Haley of Massachusetts, Brenda Seckman (James) of Wyoming, and Stephanie Jensen (Scott) of Wyoming, ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was greeted at the golden gates of heaven by her parents and her little dog, Zoey.

Visitation will be held on Friday May 6, 2022, from 4:30 to 6 pm at Bustard’s funeral home in Casper, WY. A grave side service and burial will be held on Saturday May 7, 2022, at 11 am at Wheatland cemetery in Wheatland, WY.
