Margaret Peterson Bordewick passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, August 17, 2016. She was born in Omaha, Nebraska to Hugh and Mary (Duffy) Peterson. She attended Holy Cross High School and went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Immediately after graduating from college, she taught school and then worked in the banking industry. She saw the "love of her life" out the window of a diner in downtown Omaha and later married Jay F. Bordewick on April 9, 1966. In 1979, she left her hometown to move to Casper, Wyoming with Jay and her children, Mary and Christian. From the very start, she joined community and civic groups and made lifelong friends. Her only complaint was the lack of shopping, and her husband was thankful the Internet didn't exist. She was known for her dinner parties and enjoyed spending time with her friends. In fact, while her health was declining, she was a fighter until the very end and kept going to lunch with her "Wednesday" group. Above all else, she loved her family. She cheered her children on throughout their academic and sporting events. Even when she may not have understood the rules, she yelled and clapped the loudest for Mary and Christian. This dedication continued on through every major event in their lives from graduations to jobs to marriages, but it all changed when the grandchildren started to arrive. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. None of them could do any wrong in her eyes, and her beloved Mary and Christian soon felt her wrath if they dared to say anything against her precious grandchildren. Margaret is survived by her daughter Mary (Brett) Johnson of Casper, Wyoming; son Christian (Jamie) Bordewick of Fort Collins, Colorado; and grandchildren, Bridgette Bordewick, Abby Bordewick, Katie Johnson, Josie Bordewick, Nick Johnson, Jay Bordewick, and Riley Bordewick. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay F. Bordewick; parents, Hugh and Mary Peterson; and sister, Audrey (Joan) Fried. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 1, 2016 from 6:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Bustard's Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, September 2, 2016 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Gary Ruzicka officiating. A private family internment will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central Wyoming Hospice or a charity of your choice. Condolences may be left at www.bustardsfuneralhome.com.
