M. Nelson

Margrete Darlene Nelson, 86, of Casper passed away June 10, 2017 at Wyoming Medical Center. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 5-7 P.M. at Bustard's Funeral Home. Interment will follow Friday, June 16th at 11 A.M. at Memorial Gardens. A memorial service for Darlene will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, July 8th at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Darlene was born November 24, 1930 in Casper to Peter C. and Clara H. Peterson. Other than spending 2 middle school years in Lansdowne, PA., her whole life was spent in Casper. She graduated from NCHS in 1948. She married Norris L. Nelson on August 10, 1951. They were married for 64 years. In her younger years, she was employed by Metz Bakery, State Farm Insurance, Rabb Roush CPA's and Fred Sims CPA. From 1968-1995 she was bookkeeper for Martin's Automotive, Inc. She and Norris owned all the post office mail trucks in Casper between 1953 and 1972. She was a very devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Darlene was a lifelong member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, serving as Sunday School secretary for over 25 years. The final 5 years of her life were spent at Shepherd of the Valley Care Center where she enjoyed doing Jumble puzzles and watching TV westerns. Darlene is survived by son, Rick L. Nelson, daughter, Laurie K. Nelson of Casper, sister, Joan (Gary) Goodwin of Loveland, CO., and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Norris, sister Nancy Haralson and brother-in-law Tom Haralson. Memorial contributions to honor Darlene's memory may be made to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.
