Lyndall Eastridge

The family of Lyndall Paul Eastridge, 85, invites you to join them in the celebration of his life Friday, June 8th at 10 AM at the Wyoming Veterans Cemetery, 80 Veterans Rd, Evansville, WY. Paul passed away peacefully on June 4, 2018 with his family and friends by his side. Paul was born on March 31, 1933 in Pearidge, Arkansas to Carrie L and Earl Eastridge. His mother was a missionary for the United Pentecostal Church and as a child he traveled and lived throughout the US as his mother followed her calling. Paul was a gifted athlete, however he chose to forego pursuing a career in sports and instead, he joined the United States Marine Corps in 1951. While on active duty, he spent 14 months in Korea fighting for his country and received the United Nations Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Purple Heart. While stationed in San Diego, CA he met the love of his life, Barbara Ann Thalken. They were married in Yuma, AZ on 12-12-1953 and settled in Casper, WY where they raised 3 daughters, Gloria Fiorini, Gayle Eastridge-Revere and Carol Cutler. He worked for Graybar Electric, Wyoline and Westco much of his working years. While working in this field he established the Burn Fund for linemen who were injured while working. He was an expert salesman and received many awards for top salesman and achieving million dollar sales records. Where ever he went, his customers followed because he was a man of such integrity, they knew he put them first. As the saying goes, once a Marine, always a Marine and Paul was no exception. He was active in the Marine Corps League, the American Legion, the 40 and 8, just to name a few. He was a member of the Veterans Advisory Counsel for 15 years. He served as the American Legion Baseball Commissioner for 30 years. He received the American Legion Most Valuable Player Award in 2011 and was inducted into the Wyoming Sports Hall of Fame in 2012 and received the Lifetime Achievement Award for baseball. He was inducted into the American Legion Baseball Hall of Fame in 2017. He served as Marine Corps adjutant for Toys for Tots for 24 years. Listing all of Paul's awards, achievements and recognitions would take too many pages to print. He lived his life in service to others, always seeking to lend a hand up, enrich the lives of those around him and offer his expertise and experience to any problem. His greatest joy and love was his family and visits from his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren always made him smile. Family, friends, God and country were his life. An avid sportsman, Paul was either coming home from a fishing or hunting trip or planning the next one. He loved teaching his grandchildren and great grandchildren how to fish and sharing his love of the great outdoors. Paul said there was a saying in the Marine Corps, you chose the hill you're going to die on. He suffered many battles both in the military and in his latter years, with his health. He always told his family, "This isn't the hill!" Then, on April 19, 2018 Barbara, his beloved wife of 64 years unexpectedly passed away. Losing his love proved to be that hill. A little over six weeks after Barbara had left us, Paul left this world to join her on June 4, 2018. After the service we invite you to join us for a reception and pot-luck dinner at the Elks Lodge. Flowers are welcome and can be sent to the Veterans Chapel on the day of the services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
