Lyle Martinson

May 10, 1920 — November 26, 2012

Lyle DeWayne Martinson passed away November 26, 2012 in Casper, WY. Lyle was born May 10, 1920 in Kearney, Nebraska to Oscar and Florence Martinson. He already had an older sister, Laurene, to assist with his early instruction. Lyle grew up in the farming country a few miles north of Holdrege, NE. His family attended the Moses Hill Covenant Church where Lyle was confirmed and he acquired a strong, lifelong faith in Jesus Christ and the truth of God's Word. He graduated from Holdrege High School and later attended a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning school in Chicago where he also met Anita Case. The beginning of World War II was coincidental to their romance. Lyle joined the US Army after Pearl Harbor. Before he left for Europe he and Anita were married in Pineville, LA. After the war they settled near Holdrege, starting a family of three children (Karen, Daniel, Robert) and Lyle's Repair as his own mechanic shop. Lyle was a skilled and trusted mechanic who helped many farmers establish their farms. Later he worked for KNNG as a mechanic for 29 years retiring in 1983. In 1974-75 Lyle and Anita took a leave from work in Nebraska and travelled to South Africa to be short term missionaries at a mission hospital in Swaziland. Lyle kept the generators running and repaired all types of equipment there. They enjoyed this interlude in their life together. Upon retirement Lyle began enjoying his woodworking hobby a lot more. In 2002 Anita died so Lyle moved to Casper to be near some of his family. He lived at St. Anthony Manor and soon made a family of those new friends there until his death November 26th. He is survived by his three children and their families, and friends in every place they ever lived. Well done, good and faithful servant.
