Lucille Virgina Durham sadly and unexpectedly passed away at home on June 2, 2022, at the age of 85.
Lucille, also affectionally known as "Ginger", was born on June 15, 1936, in Honolulu, Hawaii to Albert & Mary McElroy. Lucille, "Ginger" was the youngest child of 5 siblings. In 1941, when she was 5 years old, she and her family left Hawaii and moved to Southern California where Ginger spent most of her early childhood and teenage years. In 1952 she had a brief and short marriage. She had a son Ricky in 1953. While still in California, in 1956 she met and married her late husband, Charles Durham. They had 2 more children Ronald and her late daughter Deborah.
Ginger, her husband and her family lived and travelled to many states. Throughout their working years, Charles job took Ginger and the family to California, Florida, back to California, Texas, Colorado and eventually Wyoming. Ginger spent these years being a supportive wife, raising her children and working many different jobs. It was after moving to Wyoming Ginger and Charles found the place, she called home. She fell in love with the small-town country feel of Glenrock and Casper. They loved watching the Glenrock sunsets from their front yard together and the Casper sunsets held a place in her heart. She recently shared how she did not wish to live anywhere else.
Ginger loved to meet people and made many special friendships in each place she lived throughout her 85 years. Because she loved meeting people, she went back to work in her early 80's in the local markets handing out food samples. I am certain if you were kind to her, she was likely to give you an extra-large helping or even a 2nd serving!
Ginger loved watching mystery shows on tv such as NCIS, Law and Order, county western shows and western movies. She loved chocolate (she had a sweet tooth), and she loved and baked her special pineapple upside down cake. Yellow, the color of sunshine, was her favorite color. She loved to dance and listen to Country Music, especially the "oldies", such as Patsy Kline, Johnny Cash, Buck Owens, and Patty Loveless. But most of all, she loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved them each unconditionally and tried to help or give to any family member in need and gave what she could. She also enjoyed watching them grow and going to school and sports events and activities. She was proud of them all and all they grew up to be. Ginger also had multiple pets throughout the years, birds in her earlier years, her dogs Duke and Milo, and her beloved cat Sophie.
Lucille, "Ginger", is survived by her loving family, her surviving sibling Sylvia, her 2 sons, Rick and Ronald, 6 grandchildren Nicole, Robert, Daniel, John, David, Michelle, and their respective spouses, 8 great-grandchildren, Logan, Kianna, Addison, Alillian, Mason, Wesley, Chloe, Jackson and one more grandchild expected this Fall, along with multiple extended family members.
Mom, grandma, great grandma, you will be missed greatly and always loved forever-John 11:26.
