Lorrie Jackson

August 7, 1958 — March 28, 2016

Lorrie Lorraine Jackson, 57, of Casper, WY passed away surrounded by family on March 28, 2016 after a two-year battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM, Friday, April 8, 2016 at Bustard's Funeral Home. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will follow services at Highland Cemetery. Pastor Ken Martin. Lorrie was born August 7, 1958 to Genevieve Wright and Emil Larson in Deadwood, South Dakota. She grew up in Belle Fourche and Spearfish, South Dakota and moved to Casper, WY in the late 70's. It was then, during a serendipitous blind date, that she met her future husband, Steve Jackson. The two were married on August 15, 1980 and by 1991, Lorrie had given birth to three beautiful daughters, Jenny, Mary, and Stephanie. Lorrie worked for 33 years, alongside Steve, delivering mail to the residents of the Town of Bar Nunn, and continued to do so for a few months after her cancer diagnosis due to her dedication to her job. She enjoyed her work and took pride in the speed and accuracy at which she was able to provide the residents with their mail each day. Lorrie had many joys in life including: gardening, her three Chihuahuas, her collection of Steiff bears, singing, watching movies with her family, boating at Alcova Lake as a member of the Casper Boat Club, and spending time with her young grandchildren. One of her greatest joys, which she found in the later years of life, was photography. A member of the Casper Photography Association, Lorrie grew from an amateur photographer to an experienced artist with an eye for capturing the beauty of nature. She went on many trips during her time in the club and spoke fondly of those memories. Lorrie's family will always cherish the photos she left behind - a testament to the unique way she viewed the world and her indelible spirit. Lorrie endured more trials and losses in life than many people have to face, however, through all her struggles and heartbreak, Lorrie never lost her fire. She was a pillar of strength for her family through all their sorrows, and she instilled that strength and fighting spirit in her daughters. Lorrie is survived by her devoted husband, Steve Jackson; her loving daughters and their husbands, Jenny and Danny McMurrough, and Mary and Jacob Orr; and her two beloved grandchildren, Estela and Dain McMurrough. Lorrie is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Stephanie, and her sister, Linda Jones. Although there will always be a hole left in the hearts of her family, Lorrie will be remembered forever as a strong and fiery soul that will never truly be extinguished.
