Lorna was born on December 31st, 1934 near Dexter, Kansas at the family home, the daughter of Lee Andrew Mead and Juanita Gertrude (Hill) Mead. She married Roger Eugene Cook on December 22nd, 1953 in Wichita, Kansas.
Lorna attended Pittsburg State Teachers College in Pittsburg, Kansas where she received a 60 Hour Certificate to teach. She taught second grade at Jefferson School in Wichita, Kansas for one year. She taught first grade at Washington Elementary School in Council Bluffs, Iowa for three years. She was a devoted mother, wife, and homemaker for 17 years while her husband was a traveling salesman. In March, 1980, she started working as a service merchandiser for L’eggs Hosiery traveling the central part of Wyoming for 15 years. Following the loss of her job thru downsizing, she worked at Albertson’s as a Salad Bar Supervisor in Casper from October, 1995 until she retired in 2006 when she was 71 years old.
Lorna was an avid bowler and secretary of the One O’Clockers at Hilltop Bowl for 20 years. Secretary of the Wednesday Nighters at El Marko Lanes for 10 years and “200” club secretary for 4 years. She was a state delegate to the National Bowling Congress numerous years. After retiring she loved playing bridge and was in several bridge clubs. She loved watching sports.
Lorna was known for her prize winning pies and loved cooking for family dinners. She was such a good cook. Her grandchildren were very special to her and she enjoyed teaching them how to cook.
Survivors include her husband, Roger, Sr. of 69 years. Sons, Roger Eugene Cook, Jr. and wife Colleen Cook of Alpine, WY; Blakely Alan Cook, of St Petersburg, FL; Matthew Wayne Cook and wife Marla Cook of Highlands Ranch, CO; Daughter, Amy Louise Wolfe of Casper, WY. A brother, Donald Hugh Mead of Wichita, KS; 10 grandchildren, Craig Anthony Cook, Christopher Lee Cook, and Miranda Goodman (Tyson) of Salt Lake City, UT area; Clint Michael Wolfe, Joshua Alan Wolfe, Leigh Ann Brite, and Lisa Ann Grayson of Casper, WY; Megan Jost (Richard) , McKenna Duty (Matthew), and Eric Matthew Cook of Highlands Ranch, CO; 17 great grandchildren, Skyler Cook, Hylee Cook, Boston Cook, Axel Cook, Baylee Goodman, Hadley Goodman, Dax Goodman, Brecken Wolfe, Nolan Wolfe, Benjamin Wolfe, Bailey Wolfe, Kyra Lewallen, Jarrin Lewallen, Cayden Grayson, Devyn Grayson, Amelia Duty and Bennett Duty.
Preceding her in death were her parents and brother, Stanley Gene Mead and sister, Lea Anita Lemmons.
