Lois Katherine De Hattell was born to Dorothy Olive Green De Hattell Geeson and Frank De Hattell on July 16, 1931 in Nunn, Colorado (Later the name was shortened to Hattell). She had two brothers - James and Richard De Hattell. Lois's parents divorced when she was six and she had a sad and lonely childhood. James had a brain injury at the age of 3 and was institutionalized. At the age of 9 or 10 Lois was sent by train to live with an aunt and uncle in Santa Barbara, California. She always remembered that as a happy time. It was while there she made a decision to become a follower of Jesus Christ, a decision that affected the rest of her life. Lois attended a private girls high school in Laramie, Wyoming, where she lived at a boarding house called Ivinson Hall. After graduation she attended Colorado Women's College for a short time before getting a job as a telephone operator in Laramie. In 1951 she met Roland William Hart, a handsome engineering student at the University of Wyoming. Lois married her sweet ‘hart' on February 14, 1952. Roland and Lois lived in many places across Wyoming including Powell, Sand Draw, Bairoil and Casper. They have four children; Rolanda Dodgen ( Jim), David Hart (Rebecca), Sharon Jaworski Geiss (Steve) and Paul Hart (Beth). Roland and Lois moved to Casper in 1969 and remained there except for two years in Farmington, New Mexico. Roland quit his job with Atlantic Richfield to move back to the state they loved, Wyoming! In their retirement years, they went back and forth between living in Apache Junction, AZ and Casper. Lois is survived by Roland, of the home, and all four of her children. She was blessed with 8 grandchildren; James Dodgen, Raleigh, N.C., Briell Dodgen Stratton (Gerry), Bakersfield, CA , Simon Dodgen(Amber), San Francisco, CA, Natasha Jaworski Moser (Matthew), Dallas, TX, Roland Hart Jaworski (Liza), Ottawa, KS., Stephanie Hart(Donald), Cheyenne, WY, Jeffrey Hart, Cheyenne, WY. She was also blessed with 5 great grandchildren, Jordan and Landen Jaworski, Liam and Luci Moser and Troy Griffen. Lois was preceded in death by her parents and brothers and one granddaughter, Sophia. The assurance that she is in a better place is of great comfort as Lois was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2014 and had been at the Shepherd of the Valley Nursing home for the last month after breaking her ankle on August 17th. Roland and Lois were active members of Highland Park Community Church for over 40 years. They were involved with the Gideons and Lois loved going to Gideon conventions around the country. It gave them great joy to take most of their grandchildren to one of the Gideon Conventions when the grandchildren were younger for fun. Over the years Lois had regularly attended Christian Women's Club. They hosted small groups and attended small groups over most of their adult life as a couple. Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM, on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Highland Park Community Church. Interment will follow at Douglas Park Cemetery in Douglas, WY. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to The Gideons International, PO Box 140800, Nashville, TN, 37214.
