Linda had fought a long and brave battle with pancreatic and breast cancer for the past year. She had resided in Casper for several months to obtain treatment. Born October 21, 1952 in Caldwell Idaho, Linda was the youngest child of Ivan and Verle Mavis (Huffman) Carpenter. She joined a family of five older siblings. The Carpenter family lived in Idaho for a short time after Linda was born, then moved to NE WY and lived on a ranch in Crook County that belonged to Verle's sister. Their time living on the ranch gave the family fond memories of country life and is probably where Linda's love for horses began. In late 1957 the family moved to Casper WY where they resided for many years. Linda began and completed her schooling in Casper. In 1972 Linda met a young soldier named Curtis Blaylock. They married on December 18th of that year. While Curt was still serving his country, Linda remained in Casper living with her parents and working. Upon his release from the military, Curt and Linda lived in Medicine Bow WY. Eventually they moved to Rawlins WY to provide more educational opportunities for their family. Linda had lived in Rawlins since that time, while Curt eventually moved to Rock Springs WY to be closer to his employment. Linda was a fun loving and happy person. She bowled for years and often attended state tournaments. She also enjoyed playing cribbage in Rawlins. Very musically inclined, she played an accordion as a young girl. When karaoke was popular at the County Fair, Linda always participated. She loved to sing and was good at it; singing at several weddings for friends and family. She was and family person and was the first to suggest a reunion for birthdays and holidays. She was also quick witted and could think up fun mischief quite easily. She was a person with great feelings of responsibility and cared for her aging Mother until shortly before her death in 2009. Linda will be remembered as the CNA for Dr. Charles Young in Rawlins for the past 16 years. She enjoyed her job and patients greatly. She had a love for the medical world and was a very compassionate and caring person in her job duties. Not only did the patients appreciate her a great deal, they loved her for her kind and gentle ways. Linda is survived and will be missed by Curt of Rock Springs, son Shar of Wellington CO,son Kayce (Jen) of Glenrock, daughter Robbin Blaylock Tasler (Robby) of Casper, and son Travis of Rawlins. She is also survived by a brother Jerry (JD) of Gillette, and two sisters, Barbara (Don) Thompson of Lander and Sherryl (Dude) Niezwaag of Kingman AZ. Dear to her heart were seven grandchildren, Kynzie, Kyler, and Kolton of Casper and Hunter, TaeLyn, RaeLee, Chandler of Glenrock. Many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive her. Preceding Linda in death was a brother Larry Ivan in infancy; her father in 1974; sister Sharon in 1998, sister Mavis in 2004, and her mother in 2009. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Hospice Center, 319 Wilson St, Casper WY 82601.
