In Loving Memory of, Lillie Faye Sutter April 11, 1931 - June 12, 2019 Graveside services for Lillie Faye (Lil) Sutter, 88, of Casper, WY were held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Hanna, WY Cemetery. Lillie (Griffith) Sutter, was born April 11, 1931, in Floyd, NM to Walter and Hazel Griffith. After graduating with the class of 1949, in Floyd, she attended Eastern New Mexico University as a freshman. She transferred to Harding College in Searcy, Arkansas where she spent three years, graduating in 1953. After graduation, she took a teaching job in Deering, Missouri, teaching biology and general science. The following year she went back to Eastern New Mexico University to get her elementary teaching degree. She taught a total of seven years in New Mexico; Los Cruces, Grants, Thoreau and Farmington. She moved to Cheyenne where she taught for 3 years, then moved on to Rock Springs where she taught for 23 years the last 13 teaching remedial reading for students in grades one through three, retiring at age 60. In June of 1971 she met the love of her life Don Sutter. They were married one cold snowy day in a small church in Jackson Hole. After retiring in 1991 Lillie and Don moved to Hanna, WY where they spent their summers. They purchased winter homes in Big Water, UT and Casa Grande, AZ . In 2010 Lillie and Don moved to Powell, WY and in 2014 moved to Casper, WY. Lillie and Don hosted boisterous family reunions every summer with family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They would also take the grand kids in the summer for a week of fun. Lillie enjoyed writing poetry and hunting and fishing with Don. Her memory will live on through her family. She is survived in death by her sisters Olla Mae Short of Ft Worth, TX, Lola Beth and Carl White of Tucson, AZ, and Ella Jean and Dave Sivage of San Diego, CA. She is also survived in death by her step children; Ron and Jean Sutter of Cheyenne, WY, Bill and Debbie Sutter of Casper WY, Connie Sutter White of Greenville, SC , John and Carla Sutter of Rock Springs, WY, and Donetta Milner of Greenville, SC. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Chris and Jenee Sutter of Las Vegas, NV, Sarah Sutter of Las Vegas, NV, Wes and Sandra Sutter of Lexington, KY, Shaw and Greg Brezina of Casper, WY, Jason and Dawn Ranz of Windsor, CO, John and Kari Willford of Arlingon, VA, Matt and Jenny WIllford of Denver, CO, Jamie and Mike Ditrich of Laramie, WY, Kelly and Kevin Turklay of Glendale, WV, Charlie Carr of Cheyenne, WY and 19 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Donald Sutter, her parents Walter and Hazel Griffith, sister Opal Moore, three brothers, Hugh Griffith, Alvis Griffith and Orval Griffith. Son in law Johnny White and granddaughter Julie Ranz.
