Libby McHattie

Libby G. McHattie was an amazing woman born in Burnsville, North Carolina on December 11, 1934. She graduated from Bald Creek High School in 1953. From there, she completed and received her degree as a registered nurse from Rutherfordton in 1956. She fell in love with her husband, Don, when they met in 1958 at the hospital when Don was working with Central Services while she was working in the nursery. They were soon married in April 26th of 1960. Together they raised three wonderful children; Alex, Cindy, and Tracy. Libby always enjoyed nature, long walks, spending time with Don at their cabin on Casper Mountain, and being with family and friends. Her other hobbies included listening to classical music, watching basketball and baseball, and reading. God called her home on her birthday on December 11th, 2016. Libby is preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Nellie Jane Holcombe; sisters, Ruby Pike and Emma Lou Holcombe; brother, Alfred Holcombe; and infants, Jennings and Adler. She is survived by her husband, Don McHattie, son, John Alexander McHattie; daughter Cynthia Dawn Kieffer of Colorado; daughter Tracy Nyffeler of Casper; sisters Kathleen Bryson, Eva Holcombe, and Juanita Tipton of North Carolina; brothers, Grant Holcombe, Edd and Tedd Holcombe (twin brothers) of North Carolina; and her granddaughters, Whitney and Michelle Archuleta.
