Graveside services for Lester Haugen will be held at 9:15 AM, Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial services will follow at 10:00 AM at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Michael Struck officiating. Visitation will be held at Bustard's Funeral Home from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, December 22, 2010. Lester, 83, died December 19, 2010 at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. He was born March 13, 1927 at the family farm in Thief Lake, Minnesota to Rupert and Nora Haugen. Lester lived in Minnesota until 1973 when he moved to his beloved Wyoming. He and his family spent every summer in Wyoming and the western states for many years. He worked at Erie Taconite Mine as a locomotive engineer and took a diesel mechanic apprenticeship at the mine. He worked for Wyoming Machinery after moving to Casper, where he was a mechanic and shop supervisor. He retired in 1989. Lester loved to hunt, camp and travel. Les is survived by his wife of 16 years, Nira Dell Norsworthy Haugen of Pennington, Texas; sons Michael Harvey Haugen and his wife, Candy of Houston, Texas; John Arthur Haugen and his wife, Kristie of Eveleth, Minnesota, James Jay Haugen and wife, Darla of Cheyenne, daughter Dawn Renee Haugen Burfiend and husband Todd of Casper, John David Norsworthy and wife, Donna of Sugarland Texas. Grandchildren Amy Haugen Cone and husband Russell Cone of Houston, Michael Harvey Haugen, Jr. of Houston, Tim Haugen and wife Jennifer of Baldwin, Wisconsin, Beth and Cindy Haugen of Eveleth, Minnesota, Krystal Haugen Watkins and husband Ian Watkins of Cheyenne, Sarah and Amanda Haugen of Casper, Bridget Norsworthy Roth and husband Darrel of Sugarland, Texas, John Norsworthy and his wife Melissa of Richmond, Texas, Mary Arneson and numerous other foster children over the years. Also sister, Helen Haugen Hamling, sisters-in-law, Orla Majer, Beverly Swan and husband, Robert, Sharon Williams, brother-in-law Virgil Reierson and wife Lois; 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by wife of 44 years, Betty Lou Gayle Reierson Haugen, sister, Corrine Lannigan, brother Arnold Haugen and great grandson Ryan Cooper. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Central Wyoming Hospice, 319 So. Wilson Street, Casper, WY 82601. Lester always respected and supported hospice.
