Leroy Garner, age 84, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2012 at Poplar Living Center in Casper Wyoming. He was born October 25, 1927 in Osceola Iowa to Mike (Delbert) and Bessie (Schaffer) Garner. Leroy attended country school and grew up on the family farm in Iowa. He later moved to Wyoming, and served in United States Army 1952-1955. After the Army and upon his return to Wyoming he went to work in the oil field for True Oil, Black Hills Trucking and Loffland Drilling, hauling and setting up oil rigs. He was preceded in death by his parents, many friends and siblings: Alice Mae, Donald, John, William, Edwin, Leland, Larry and an infant sister Maxine. Leroy is survived by his son David Garner his Companion Toni, and daughter Chelsey of Casper; grandson Dustin Garner and wife (Shawna) of Casper; great grandchildren Emily Garner and Brandon Debyah of Casper; brother Eldon Garner and wife (Hattie) all of Osceola IA; sister in Law Corky Garner of Casper. Additional survivors whom Leroy cared for deeply are: Sam (Elizabeth), John and Kaylee McClelland of Casper; Linda Classen and Husband of Nevada: Frederrick, Joann, Hailee and Fred Jr. Schott of Casper; Curtis and Zabrina Farris of Casper; Bob and Loretta Foreman of Casper. Leroy cared about and left behind many nieces, nephews and cousins of Casper, Iowa, Colorado and California. Leroy was a hard worker. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, visiting with the patrons and eating at Kopper Kettle, Ghost Town Truck Stop and many other business on Casper's west side. He had a love for animals, tractors, trucks, cranes and other machinery. His son David would like to thank the staff of Poplar Living Center for their quality care of his father this past year. He would also like to thank Wyoming Medical Center for past care of Leroy. David thanks the people that helped him care for Leroy while he was still living in his home. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Human Society of Casper, Central Wyoming Hospice Program or the Alzheimer's Affiliation of Wyoming. Viewing will be held Wednesday, February 22, from 12:00 Noon to 6:00 PM at Bustards Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery, 80 Veterans Rd, Evansville, WY with Rev. Gayle Unruh officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Natrona County United Veterans Council and the Wyoming Army National Guard.
