Henry Leo Ficken, Jr., 93, passed on July 29, 2019, in Casper. Born April 30, 1926, in Sterling, Colorado, he was the son of Henry Leo and Anna Grace. He was raised and educated in Colorado and Wyoming. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 and served during World War II, on the destroyer USS Cogswell, as a machinist mate in the Pacific. He was honorably discharged in 1946. On July 28, 1947, he married Eva Mae West in Rangely, Colorado. They moved to Casper in 1950, where he began his work for Amoco Refineries. He spent many enjoyable years helping start the YMCA in Casper, and was very active with the Casper Water Ski Club. He also enjoyed bowling, traveling, and spending time with his family. After 31 years with Amoco, he retired in 1981. He made a point to attend the retiree's breakfast each month to keep in touch with the other Amoco retirees. Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Eva Mae; two children, Patricia Jackson and her husband, Jerry, and Joe Leo and his wife Marilou; one granddaughter, Shannon and her husband, Louis; two grandsons, Shawn and his wife, Denise, and Tim and his wife, Erica; and five great-grandchildren, Lauren, Spencer, Connor, Camden, and Carter. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels of Casper. Funeral services will be held at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery Monday, August 5, 2019 at 2:00 PM.
