Lena E. Shinn died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on November 21st, 2012. Lena was born Lena E. Casebolt on April 4th, 1920 to Chester Hershel Casebolt and Edith Cora Casebolt (McCray) in Merriman, Nebraska, one of two children. Lena lived on a farm in a two-story log home that her grandfather built. She attended country school until she was eight-years-old. Lena moved with her family to the Casper area in 1928 where her family homesteaded near Midwest. She graduated from Natrona County High School in 1937. That same year, on January 3rd, she married Clark E. Shinn. Lena completed two-years of college and worked on numerous ranches, including the Hat Six Ranch. She then worked for several doctors in Casper. Lena and Clark settled west of Casper in Bessemer Bend, where the family ranch remains. Lena gave birth to two children, a stillborn daughter, Marry Ann, and a son John (Jack). Lena above all loved her grandchildren. She also loved ranching, crocheting, sewing, gardening, quilting, and reading. Lena was a 4H Leader for many years, as well as a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Rebekah's Lodge #13 and #139, the Methodist Church, and Sunrise Baptist Church. Lena is survived by her son Jack (Phyllis), granddaughters Kate (Larry) and Lori, great-grandchildren Angelena (Merle), Allen, Genie, Karrie, John, Larry (Niki), Shelly (Don), Dawn (Gavin), and Neil (Sandy), great-great-grandchildren Kaitlyn, Dakota, Christopher, and Jak, a nephew Johnny, and an unborn great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband Clark in 1998, her parents Chester and Edith, her brother William, infant daughter Mary Ann, and daughter-in-law Mary. The family has asked for memorials and donations to be sent to Central Wyoming Hospice.
