Long-time Casper resident, Leda Ausich passed away March 16, 2012 at the Poplar Living Center, following a prolonged struggle with Parkinsons Disease. Born February 16, 1924 in Hays Springs, NE to Lee and Anna Woody, Leda spent her entire life in Wyoming. Growing up on a ranch and homestead at Big Trails, Wyoming with her parents and five brothers, she was a true, independent western woman. Leda graduated from Hot Springs County High School in Thermopolis, WY in 1942 after which she attended the Billings Business College. During the latter stages of WWII, she worked for the Office of Defense Transportation as a stenographer. Leda married the love of her life, John Ausich, in 1947. They made their home in Casper where they raised their sons, Ken and Rod. After her children were grown, Leda returned to work for many years for the Natrona County School Employees Federal Credit Union, prior to retiring in 1982. Leda will be remembered for her unselfish devotion her family. Well before there were soccer moms, she was a deeply involved Little League baseball mom. In her spare time, she also enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading mystery novels, and knitting or crocheting gifts for her family and friends. Leda is survived by her husband, John, and son, Ken (Ann) of Rio Vista, CA and daughter-in-law, Rebecca of Lake Forest, IL, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Rod, her parents, and brothers, Wayne, Loyd, Ralph, LeRoy, Dean. In lieu of flowers, Leda's family requests any memorials be made in her memory to a favorite organization in need. Funeral services will be held at Bustard's Funeral Home 10:30 AM, Tuesday, March 20, 2012.
