Larry Jones

August 31, 1940 — October 28, 2015

Larry W. Jones, 75, of Cheyenne passed away peacefully on October 28 in Cheyenne with his loving family by his side. He was born August 31, 1940 in Casper to Genevieve (Hougham) Casey. After graduating from Natrona County High School he enlisted in the United States Navy serving as an Engineman. While stationed at the Submarine Base in Groton, Connecticut he met and married Frances Silkins of Cambridge, Massachusetts. After his release from Active Duty they returned to Wyoming where he began his successful career in the oilfields. He worked at MPI Warehouse and Mid Continent Supply. His knowledge of the industry allowed him to be successful as the Northern Division Manager of the Rocky Mountain Region until the oil bust in the early 1980s. He then moved to Cody, Wyoming where he owned and operated Triple L Sales. He retired in 2005. Larry loved his native Wyoming. He was an avid outdoorsman; hunting, fishing, camping, fishing, boating, 4-wheeling, and gardening. H was always puttering...fixing and building things. His love of the outdoors was never lost even as his health declined. Larry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Frances Jones of Cheyenne; daughters Laura Reeb of Cheyenne and Lisa (Ron) Whetstone of Casper; grandchildren Heather Hinds, Ryan Reeb and Caleb Reeb, great-grandsons Landon and Logan Hinds; one sister and two brothers. He was preceded in death by his mother Genevieve early this year and his step-father Richard Casey. Memorial services will be held at 1pm on Saturday, November 7 at Bustard's Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place and his family will scatter his ashes in the mountains he loved. Friends who wish, may contribute to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (Cody Chapter) or the American Diabetes Foundation.
