On Monday, August 7, 2017, Kiersten Lucille Hanchett Carmien passed away surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 2, 1978 in Traverse City, MI, she was the daughter of Jean and Richard Carmien. She grew up in Interlochen, Michigan, attended Traverse City Area Public Schools, and later graduated from Vanderbilt Area High School in Vanderbilt, MI. She then resided in Gaylord, MI, until the fall of 2010 when she relocated to Gillette, WY. Kiersten was a fighter. She never backed down from a fight. Not even the one that took her life. When she was diagnosed with cancer in February, 2016, she put on her boxing gloves and gave it all she had until the very end. She had an incredible spirit and determination that was insurmountable. She loved everyone. She had a beautiful personality that shined wherever she went. Her smile lit up the room. Her laugh was contagious. Her sassy attitude and spunk made everyone laugh. And her kind heart was irreplaceable. Kiersten is survived by her devoted (Person) of nine years, Jeremy Hill of Gillette, WY and his daughter Emma Hill; her parents Jean and Richard Carmien of Gillette, WY; her grandparents Joseph and Katharine Hanchett of Traverse City, MI, and Steven and Shirley Moore of Interlochen, MI; her brothers CJ (Richard Jr.) Carmien of Mesa, AZ, and his daughters Ashlyn, Alayna and Alyson Carmien of Gillette, WY; Brian Carmien of Indianapolis, IN; and Kyle Carmien (Nicki Lindahl) and their children Ryley and Chase Carmien of Gillette, WY; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her Aunt Elizabeth (Liz) Carmien Frye and cousin, Kristy Lynn Hanchett. Celebrations of Life will be Friday, August 11, 2017 from 6-8pm at the Community Center at Elm Court Apartments, 820 N. Gurley Ave, Gillette, WY; and Sunday, August 13, 2017 with an 11am service followed by a potluck at Cycle-Moore, 11075 U.S. 31 South, Interlochen, MI.
