Kenneth Edward McCants of Casper, known to most as Mac, died at the age of 71 on Tuesday, October 12, 2010. Mac died doing what he loved most, elk hunting in the Big Horn Mountains. Mac was born September 23, 1939, in Seminole, Oklahoma to Herschel Shelby and Mildred A. McCants. He moved to Casper with his family from Snyder, Texas in 1954, moved back to Texas in 1965, and lived in Colorado before returning to Wyoming in 1971. Mac attended Natrona County High School and Casper College. He served on the U.S.S. Sierra while in the Navy and was honorably discharged in March 1959. Mac enjoyed a variety of occupations in his lifetime and was proud to have participated in the construction of the NASA Space Center in Houston, Texas as a painting supervisor. He had Mac's Welding Service, Cloud Peak Outfitters, and finally settled into his favorite occupation as a farrier with Mac's Farrier Service. He attended numerous farrier training clinics and symposiums around the country and was an expert horseman. Mac and his soul mate, Linda Semino, were married January 15, 1994, in Casper. Mac and Linda looked forward to being together sharing hunting in the Big Horns, fishing at Pathfinder Reservoir and learning, loving and laughing together. Mac was a lifetime member of the Pathfinder Boat and Fishing Club having served as Commodore from 2002 through 2007. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, National Farriers Association, and served in the Mounted Patrol while a member of the Shriners. He was passionate about horses, elk hunting in the Big Horn Mountains, and fishing at Pathfinder Reservoir. Mac is survived by his wife, sister Patricia Louise Bergamo and brother-in-law Ernie Bergamo of Larkspur, Colorado, stepson Richard Semino of Casper, son Wayne Eads and daughter Kimberly Mobley of Casper, daughter Lisa Rae of Colorado, six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and good friend, Don Burgess. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at Grace Lutheran Church. Military honors will be accorded by the Natrona County Veterans Council and the Wyoming Army National Guard. A reception will follow downstairs at the church. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Bustard's Funeral Home. Donations honoring Mac can be made to the Casper Humane Society, 849 East E Street, Casper 82601 or to Reach 4A Star Riding Academy, 4250 N 6 Mile Road, Casper, 82604. Kenneth, and Mac, will be missed by his family, friends, clients, and horse "friends". .
