Kathryn McKenna

Kathryn "Kathy" Ann (Mooney) McKenna, age 59, died unexpectedly at her home in Casper on Monday, December 5, 2016. Kathy was born on April 18, 1957 in Casper, WY. A 1975 graduate of Natrona County High School, she attended Rogue Community College in Grants Pass, Oregon before graduating from the University of Wyoming in 1990 with a bachelor's degree in secondary education. She taught English at East Junior High School in Casper, and later in Yakima, Washington, before changing to a career in office management. She spent many years serving as a board member for Community Action Partnership of Natrona County. An equestrian in her youth, Kathy was a rare member of the Cowboy State's english riding community. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, writing, and movies. She is survived by her father, Dr. Milton Gene Mooney, Green Valley, AZ; sisters, Karen Kramer, Epworth, IA, Janet Novotny, Port Byron, IL, Patricia Wampler, Colorado Springs, CO; nieces, Alexandria Novotny Pasker (Austin), Cedar Rapids, IA, Katelyn Kramer, Holly Wampler, Hannah Wampler; nephews, Nicholas Wampler, Kameron Kramer; and dear friend, Heather Sutherland, Casper, WY. She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Mae Mooney, in 1998. Following cremation, burial will take place at Highland Cemetery. A memorial reception will be held from 2:00-5:00 on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at The Hanger, Bar Nunn, WY.
