Kathy Badger died quietly in her sleep on her birth date, Fri., Oct. 26th at Life Care Center after many years of illness, having had dialysis for eight years, and having received excellent love and care as a resident at Life Care for two years where she met and enjoyed many new friends. Kathy was born Oct. 26, 1940 in Hillsboro, Kansas, the daughter of Clyde & Mildred Chlumsky, and grew up and graduated from high school in Augusta, Kansas in 1958. She received her B.S. in elementary & physical education at Phillips University, Enid, Oklahoma in 1962. She taught school in Perkins, Stroud and Oklahoma City, and served 20 years with NCSD support services and as a substitute teacher. Kathy was a long time baptized member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) along with her husband, serving as a pastor's wife with congregations in Perkins, Stroud, Oklahoma City and here in Casper at 1st Christian for 30 years. She held many offices with their regional and local churches two terms as chair of regional C.W.F. women's ministries, attended CRMR's Renewal & Internat'1. Quadrennial, annual state & national church conventions, and active in the church school, C.W.F., prayer groups, vocal & hand bell choirs. Mrs. Badger enjoyed attending plays, playing cards & bunco, crafts and handwork, cooking for church events, TV, reading, travel and several cruises with family, but best of all, she enjoyed her family and grandchildren which were her delight! Kathy's sweet smile and personality will be missed and lovingly remembered by a host of friends in many communities from across the years! Mrs. Badger is predeceased by her parents and a brother, Joe. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Rev. Dr. Bryant D. Badger, by her daughters and their families: Mrs. Jenny Black of Casper and her husband Brian and their children: Briana and Josh; Mrs. Julie Bunton of Edmond, OK. and her husband Rev. Greg Bunton, and their children, Mikayla and Brody. Memorial Services will be held at First Christian Church (DOC), 520 CY Avenue, Friday, November 23, the day after Thanksgiving Day. There will be a public viewing on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at Bustard's Funeral Home from 1:00-5:00 p.m. Cremation will follow, with eventual burial at Highland Park Cemetery where their memorial stone has already been placed.
