Judith Tragethon

Judith Eleanor Tragethon, 94 of Casper passed peacefully in her sleep at Shepherd of the Valley Care Center, and was called home to the Lord she loved on Saturday November 6th. She was preceded in death by her Husband Alfred Tragethon, 7 brothers and sisters, and her parents and grandparents. She is survived by her sister in laws Barbara Gress Hilstad of Casper, who was her travel companion and best friend till the end, and Ann Nelson of Rockford, IL, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and many other relatives. Judy was born October 13th 1916 in Hillsboro, ND to Emma and Simon Hilstad. She was one of 8 children. She later met and married Alfred Tragethon on September 1st 1938 in Moorhead, MN. Judy and husband Al were factory workers and later managed the Hotel Lafayette in Rockford, IL. After moving to Casper in the 70's she worked in the dietary dept at the Wyoming Medical Center until she retired. A long time member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, she was part of the quilting club and a member of the Wild Bunch for many years. She loved to travel especially back to ND and MN to see where her family was from and where she grew up. She was an excellent cook. She made the best lefsa, and taught her sister in law Barbara and niece Jean to make it just the way she did. To this day it is still a family favorite around the holidays. Family was very important, and though she never had children of her own, her nieces and nephews were like her own. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her laugh, her smile, the jokes she use to crack, the smell of her perfume, the way she used to have beads and earring's to match every outfit, and the way she used to say "I yi yi" Thus why she became known as the "Yi Yi Girl" to the nurses and Cna's at Shepherd of the Valley. Services will be held Saturday November 13, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Bustard's Funeral Home in Casper, WY. Viewing will be from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, November 12, 2010 at Bustard's Funeral Home. Her final resting place will be beside her beloved husband in Boyd, MN. A small gathering will follow the services this Saturday at Shepherd of the Valley Care Center in Casper for those who would like to attend.
