Judith Ann Hunt of Casper, Wyoming, a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother and great grandmother returned to Heaven at 1:35 AM on Sunday, September 24, 2023, surrounded by her children at the Life Care Center of Casper at the age of 83.
She was born in Muscatine, Iowa on December 26, 1939, to Leonard Ernest Gilleland and Georgia Lou Allie (Wooden) Gilleland. Her family moved to Scottsbluff in 1940 after living in Muscatine and then moved to Casper in October 1946 where Judy grew up and attended Natrona County High School. She met her future husband, Jerry Oliver Hunt in high school, and they were married on January 25, 1958. They were married for 26 years. In 1984, Judy received her GED. It had been an accomplishment she always wanted to achieve after raising her children.
Judy had many jobs during her lifetime, mostly all in customer service. She loved to chat it up with her customers. During high school she worked at Rex’s In and Out and the America Theater. Her long career as a cashier included Buttery’s, BiRite Drug and Sutherland’s.
She loved being a mother and was involved in many of her kids’ extracurricular activities including Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Job’s Daughters, PTA, and all their numerous sport activities. She loved to bake and always made a cake for everyone’s birthday.
Judy is survived by her four children, William Douglas (Darla) Hunt, Jerry Ernest Hunt, Terry Oliver (Annie) Hunt and Mary Melinda (Wallace) Woods; brothers Jerry Gilleland and Skip Gilleland; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Bill Gilleland, Gene Gilleland, Betty Nichols and Bonnie Guynn and daughter-in-law Tracy Hunt.
Funeral services will be held at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church on Friday September 29, 2023 at 1 pm with a viewing at Bustard & Jacoby Funeral Home from 5 to 7 pm Thursday September 28, 2023.
