Joyce Taylor

August 5, 1923 — November 13, 2018

Joyce Shaw Taylor was born in Englewood Colorado August 5, 1923 to Guy E. Shaw and Hedy (Menke) Shaw. She went to be with her Lord November 13, 2018 at age 95. She grew up in Casper attending Casper schools and graduated from N.C.H.S. in 1940. During that time she worked for the Schulte family at the Rialto Theater, then continued her education at Woodbury Business College in Los Angeles. On August 18, 1941 she married Glenn Allen Taylor. They lived in California, Texas and Oklahoma working for United Airlines and various defense plants. Following Glenn's Naval service during World War Il, they returned to Wyoming and along with Glenn's brother Don took over management of the Taylor Ranch in Campbell, Johnson and Converse Counties . Joyce was active in that and in Glenn's other business ventures in heavy construction, banking, oil and gas leasing and real estate in Wyoming , Arizona and Australia. They enjoyed world travel together, and in 1970 they built a home in Arizona where she remained following the death of husband in 1979. She moved back to Casper in 1998 to be near family but remained active in business and supported many Christian organizations; Al-anon, Bible Studies, Celebrate Recovery and Church Missions. She continued her lifelong love of music by participating in choirs, community choral groups and entertaining the residents of Mountain Plaza with her piano music. Always a voracious reader, she was never without a stack of books and periodicals which she enjoyed discussing and sharing with others. An accomplished hostess, Joyce entertained everyone from sheepherders to bank presidents with the same consideration. Her kitchen was open twenty four hours a day and was often over run with unexpected guests. She could provide a gourmet meal on their cabin cruiser on Jackson Lake or "Sand Rock" at the ranch. She had a love of children and organized picnics, sleepovers, swimming, music and other events well remembered. She was always available for comfort and good counsel. A dedicated patriot she always wore red on Friday "Till Wars End".
