Joyce Irene Lyford

Joyce Irene Lyford, 82, of Glenrock, Wyoming, passed away on August 30, 2024 in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Joyce was born in Dubuque, Iowa, to Howard and Gladys Jansen on October 18, 1941. She went to Dubuque Senior High School, attended Nursing School in Davenport, Iowa, and Obtained a Masters Degree in Nursing from the University of Wyoming. Joyce served as a nurse in Davenport and at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, early in her career, and later taught nursing at Casper College and the University of Wyoming in Casper. She loved the many years of gardening at their home in Casper and subsequently at their retirement home along the North Platte River near Glenrock, and enjoyed a long life of travels abroad with her husband and family. 

Joyce is survived by her husband of 58 years, Charles, of Glenrock, WY; Sons Gregory (Laura) Lyford of Nixa, MO, and Mark (Jennifer) Lyford of Laramie, WY; Grandchildren Marian (John) Klass of Ozark, MO, Ben (Carly) Lyford of Rogersville, MO, Robert (Sarah) Lyford of Fair Grove, MO, Derk Lyford of Fairbanks, AK, and Rebecca Lyford of Laramie, WY; Great Grandchildren Oliver, Charlie, and Nathaniel Lyford and Rhett and Lilly Klass. Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Howard Jansen, her mother, Gladys Jansen, and her sister, Nancy Stensland.

 Public viewing will be held from 10-11AM, followed by a Celebration of Life Ceremony officiated by Pastor Nathan Keith from 11AM-12PM and a reception from 12-3PM at Bustard and Jacoby Funeral Home in Casper, WY on September 7. Burial will take place at the Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery in Evansville, WY on September 9.
