Joyce Elaine Bratt, 85, passed away February 20, 2014 at Central Wyoming Hospice in Casper. She was born on the family ranch near Wauneta, Nebraska on November 20, 1928, the daughter of William Dudek, Jr. and Ola (Branum) Dudek. She lived on the ranch until age 13, at which time her father became employed by the Veteran's Administration. While her father was with the VA, the family lived in Madison, Wisconsin, Reno, Nevada, Lincoln, Nebraska and Grand Island, Nebraska. Mrs. Bratt graduated from high school in Lincoln and attended the University of Nebraska. She graduated in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. After graduation she taught high school in Prague, Nebraska. On July 1, 1951, she married Edward L. Bratt in Grand Island, Nebraska. Mr. Bratt was employed by the J. C. Penney Co. in Lincoln and was later transferred to Topeka, Kansas and Bismarck, North Dakota. He then managed stores in Kansas City, Missouri and Denver, Colorado. He was transferred to Casper in 1967 to manage the store here. In 1974 Mr. and Mrs. Bratt opened the Coast to Coast Hardware store in Casper which they owned and operated until August, 1993. Mrs. Bratt was the loving caregiver of her husband for many years. She especially enjoyed being with her family and the time she and her husband spent at their home in the Jackson area. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the American Association of University Women, the Casper Boat Club, Order of Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. She is survived by her husband, Ed Bratt; daughter, Mindy (Bill) Sheckler; son, Marty (Theresa) Bratt; grandchildren, Aimee Sheckler (Nicholas) Crosby, Brian Sheckler, Christopher Sheckler, Demrie Bratt,Kylie Bratt (Justin) Stern and Drayson (Caitlyn) Brattand great-grandchildren, Davin and Kyson Crosby. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorials to the First United Methodist Church would be appreciated by the family. Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church. Condolences for the family may be left at bustardsfuneralhome.com.
