Joseph Richards

Joe went to be with the Lord passing peacefully in his home on April 2, 2018. Joe was born in Basset Nebraska on March 2, 1934 to John and Mayme Richards their family consisted of 13 children Daile, Genevieve, Dorothy, Johnny, Alberta, Harold, Charles, James, Alfred, Robert, Mary, and Dave. He served in the U.S. army from March 23, 1956 to March 9, 1962. He was a prominent member of Faith Bible Chapel for 42 years where he became grandpa to the congregation. The congregation remembers Joe as the church greeter faithfully at the front door to shake the hands of the people as they came to the house of the Lord. Joe was a huge sports fan, some of his favorite teams included the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies, Wyoming Cowboys and Nebraska Huskers. He spent much of his free time attending sports events throughout the community, he enjoyed attending the thunderbird basketball games, the local minor baseball team and any sports events of his grand-children or kids in the church. He was also an avid bowler on the "Old Timers" League at El Marko Lanes for many years. He was a wonderful man with a gentle spirit that touched the lives of those he came in contact with. He is survived in death by his loving wife of 58 years Shirley Richards. Two brothers Dave and Jim Richards. Three children Vickie Ritthaller, Fred Osborne and Jody Clough. He had eight grandchildren Cynthia Cater, Dee Dee Tucker, Melissa Vick, Shannon Allen, Angela Clough, Victoria Smithey, Erin Osborne and Rolanda Sambrano. He also had fourteen great-grandchildren Jacob Pitchford, Taylor Agosta, Tyler Stewart, Logan Cloud, Isabelle Cloud, Braxton Sambrano, Caden Irvine, Zach Pitchford, Kayla Benson, Joseph Clough, Krystal Tucker, Joshua Tucker, Virginia and Vanessa. He was also blessed with two great-great grandchildren Xander Benson and Jacob Pitchford Junior. Joe was a great friend, mentor but most of all he was a caring and loving husband and father. He will be greatly missed. Memorial service at Faith Bible Chapel 504 N. Forest Drive Saturday April 7, 2018 at 10 A.M.
