Joseph Marc Desmarais, age 63, graciously lost his battle with cancer at Central Wyoming Hospice Facility in Casper Wy on July 13, 2024.
Marc was born on August 20, 1960 in Tupper Lake, NY, the son of Gaston and Jacqueline (Fontaine) Desmarais. He went to Tupper Lake High School and after his family moved to Lyons Station, PA, graduated from Kutztown High School, Kutztown, PA, in 1978. He worked at East Penn Manufacturing for a small stint before moving to Wyoming after his parents and little sister relocated to Glenrock. He was employed with Thatcher & Sons in Glenrock at this time. He had many close friends between Wyoming and Pennsylvania and went back and forth for a period. He proudly welcomed his daughter, Jordan, into his life while he was living in Pennsylvania, eventually moving her to Wyoming where she graduated from GHS. He worked with his father at GD Auto in Glenrock for a number of years and then went on to work for Arch Rock (Exterran Corp) which took him between WY and PA. His final employment was with Crestwood which he spoke so highly of the management and his co-workers. His position with them was difficult for him to walk away from as this was a very dear place for him to work.
On March 11, 2000, he married the love of his life, Joanne, in Glenrock at St. Louis parish of which Marc was a faithful member of and maintained a close relationship with God, especially during his illness. She was his rock and he spoke often on how special she was to him. They did many adventures together and were seen around town doing one of their favorite things, playing the slots. Her care and devotion for Marc was undaunted and was a true blessing.
Marc enjoyed reading Louis Lamoure books, watching football, hockey, and NASCAR racing, which he did car racing himself at local tracks. This was a passion he learned from his father where they teamed up as driver and builder racing at Intermountain Speedway in Cheyenne, WY and at Colorado National Speedway in Denver, CO.
Marc was known for his positive personality and endless story telling. He was charismatic, adventurous, and loved checking out thrift stores or antique shops, growing his collection on history. He had a profound respect for veterans.
Marc is survived by his wife Joanne Desmarais, his daughter, Jordan Desmarais from Denton, Texas, his mother, Jacqueline Desmarais who now resides in Durham, NC, his sister, Diane Desmarais from Durham, NC, his brother Rene (Twila) from Tucson, AZ, and his sister Denise (Michael) Cessarano from Mumford, NY. He has many nieces and nephews who were very fond of their Uncle Marc for all the jokes, games and mountains of silly memories that they hold in their hearts.
Marc was predeceased by his father, Gaston Desmarais.
In lieu of flowers, please consider having masses said in his honor or giving to the American Cancer Society or Central Wyoming Hospice.
