John Pryor Young was born on May 20, 1942 in Portland, Oregon and died Dec.14th after complications of his defiant battle with cancer. The son of Virginia Coke Murphy and George Phillips Young, John attended Lincoln High School, the University of Portland (OR) and the University of Louisville (KY). John worked for P.I. in Denver before starting his own company, Area Rig Location Service, and then worked at Anthony's Italian Restaurant before taking over the operation of the Sky Terrace Lounge at the Casper International Airport for many years up until his death, where he was well known for his famous "John Burger"! The bar was a perfect match for someone who loved people and he could be seen throughout the airport with his beloved dog, Seagram, close by. He was full of good stories and truly "never met a stranger" in his life, gladly offering 'the shirt off his back' to anyone in need. John was proud to be an honorary member of the Wyoming National Guard and displayed that "award" in the bar. John loved Casper Mountain and spent many years helping with the "Midsummer Night's Eve" event every summer. He was preceded in death by his parents and recently, his dear brother-in-law, Ray Hausler. John is survived by his daughter, Holly and sister, Ginger Hausler of Portland, and nieces Tory and Stephanie, nephew, Graham and their families, all of Oregon, and the King Family in Casper: Cindy, Jim and Godson's Brian and Brendan and so many caring friends. Memorials in John's honor would be appreciated to either the Casper Humane Society or Central Wyoming Hospice. John will be greatly missed by so many and a celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 12th from 2:30 - 6:30 on the Observation Deck at the airport. Bring your "John stories" to share!
