John Winter

John Norman Winter, 92, of Casper, passed away peacefully, with his family on December 7th. Viewing will be held at Bustard's Funeral Home on Friday, December 9th from 12:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 10th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 701 South Wolcott in Casper. John was born in Buhl, Idaho to Beulah and Fred Winter on December 16th, 1923. He went to school at Shoshone High School and attended Boise Junior College. He married Patricia Dickinson on June 30, 1950 in Shoshone, ID. John worked as a carpenter for most of his life, but was a man of many trades. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Army. John was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, the Philippine Liberation Medal with two bronze service stars, and a medal for good conduct. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing competitive sports, was a friend of 4-H, and coached little league baseball. Later in life he was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his ever-growing family. John is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, his parents, Fred & Beulah, his brother Wayne, and sisters Winifred & Carolyn and great granddaughter Felicity Mosser, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. John is survived by his son, John (and Judy) Winter, daughter Carol (and Richard) Bates, daughter Susan (and Scott) Sojourner, daughter Pamela (and Donn) Mosser; his grandchildren, Dennis (and Cookie) Winter, Melissa Sojourner, Jennifer (and Tyler) Orvis, Travis (and Diana) Sojourner, Bill Bates, Norman Winter, Patrick (and Billie) Mosser and Kimberly Isabell; great grandchildren, Nason & Willy Sojourner, Joah Crouch, Brandi Winter and Ryan & Annslie Mosser.
