John Septer

Funeral services and interment for John F. Septer, 84, will be held at Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 2:30 PM with Chaplain Leonard Robinson officiating. Viewing will be Thursday, September 22, 2011 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Bustard's Funeral Home. Military honors will be accorded by the Natrona County United Veterans Council. John was born March 31, 1927 to Dean and Rosa Septer on a homestead north of Douglas, Wy. at Walker Creek. John attended schools in Douglas before enlisting in the Army January 15, 1946. He served in Germany at the end of WWII. Following his discharge January 21, 1947, he married the love of his life, Florence (Toots) Metz, in Douglas, Wy. on August 5, 1947 in a double ceremony with their lifelong best friends, Walter and Helen Metz. After his marriage, he went to work for Stanolind Oil and Gas in Midwest, Wy. He retired from Amoco Production as a Production Foreman after 35 years of service. John and Toots spent their retirement years in Casper, Wy. being close to their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Johns' interests in life were, first and foremost, his family, then spending time hunting, fishing, and an occasional trip to any casino. He also enjoyed many happy hours maintaining his lovely yard. John is survived by his son, John W. Septer (Connie Barberton) and daughter, Connie Elrod (George), both of Casper, grandsons, John J. Septer (Evelia) and great grandson Floyd of Phoenix, AZ,, Don D. Hembree (Shelly) and granddaughter, Ariel Poledna of Casper, Justin D. Septer (Christina Burbach) of Casper, and Aaron J. Elrod (Annabelle Prince) and great grandchildren Kelsey Hope and Cameron J. Elrod of Casper. Also, numerous nieces and nephews and special friend Barbara Malin of Phoenix. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence (Toots) Metz, parents, Dean and Rosa Septer, his brother, Oren Dewey Septer, his sister, Yvonne 'Boots' Rupe, and his niece, Judy Rupe. John was lovingly cared for, until his death in his home, by his son and daughter. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in his memory be made to Amedisys Hospice of Casper or a charity of the donors' choice.
