On December 2nd, John Guy Munsinger passed peacefully. John was born December 31, 1924 in Casper, WY to Theodore R. and Irene E. (Sterling) Munsinger. He graduated from Manville-Lance Creek High School. Shortly after graduation, he entered the U S Navy. John was stationed in Australia, the South Pacific and the Philippines. He was a Torpedomans' Mate Third Class and was highly decorated during his military service. In Australia, he met the love of his life, Valerie Faye "Peg" Garrad. They were married in Milton, Australia and their first child, Richard Dale, was born there. John was honorably discharged on December 15, 1945. After returning to the states, they settled in Wyoming and were residents of Glenrock and Casper. In John's early years, he was a partner with his father, mother and brothers at T R Munsinger and Sons, an oil field service company. He later formed his own company, Central Contractors Co. Inc., an underground utilities firm, which he operated until his retirement in 1988. John was an avid sportsman and stock car racer. He and his son, Dale, spent many good times building and racing stock cars. John also enjoyed operating a small ranch west of Casper and spending time relaxing and fishing at the family cabin at Alcova. He was a past president of the Associated General Contractors of Wyoming as well as a representative to the national organization. John was an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and a member of both the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. John was active in the Grand Slam Club and Safari Club International. He enjoyed the 2 Shot Goose Hunt in Torrington, WY having been a two-time winner with his grandson, Shaun Bouzis. He was also a record holder of the North American Grand Slam of sheep and bear; during a number of trips, he collected the African Big 5 and half of Africa's Tiny Ten. In addition to traveling to Africa, John and Peg loved traveling to Australia to remain close to Peg's family. They cherished spending time with children and grandchildren all over the country. In later years, they enjoyed spending time with family and lifelong Wyoming friends and being involved in their grandchildren's education, sporting events and lives. John was a loving caregiver to his wife, Peg, for many years. They spent many happy hours canning, cooking and baking for family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Peg of Casper, son Richard Dale (Joanne) of San Diego, CA, daughter Sandra Kaye Daniels (John) of Gillette, WY, son-in-law John Lee Bouzis DDS of Casper, WY. Grandchildren Juniper L. Munsinger of Seattle, WA, Shaun L. Bouzis DVM of Bismarck, ND, Ashley R. Sholes MD (Kevin) of Seattle, WA and Ian C. Daniels of Gillette, WY, sister, Delores (Leonard, deceased) Burch of Bountiful, UT, sister-in-law Elsie (Keith) Hanchard and brother-in-law William (Nola) Garrad of Australia. John was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Sue Bouzis, brothers, Floyd William "Bick" Munsinger and Robert Loran Munsinger, and parents, Theodore R. and Irene E. Munsinger. A private service for the family was held December 2, 2010 at Bustard's Funeral Home. A celebration of John's life will be held in the spring of 2011.
