John Moler died peacefully on Sunday, December 8, 2019, at Life Care Center in Casper, Wyoming, at the age of 95.
John was born in Holt County, Nebraska, to Vincent and Clara (Rohde) Moler on May 17, 1924. He was the eldest boy in a family of five girls and five boys. He went to country school until the 8th grade, leaving to help support his family. Education, however, was very important to him. He served in the Army during WWII in European Theater. He received a Purple Heart. He was part of the Honor Guard at the Allied Four Building in Berlin, Germany until he was honorably discharged.
He met Mary Ann Pavlicek on a blind date in Hastings, NE. They married in Lincoln, NE, on September 22, 1947, and their union lasted 72 years. They had two children, a son Richard, and a daughter Mary. They have made Casper their home since August 1953. He learned neon tube-bending at Bruce Neon in Lincoln, NE, thanks to the GI Bill. He worked at this trade and other construction jobs throughout his career, retiring from Nix Signs in 1989. He worked hard to provide for his family. His kind and giving nature would have him do most anything for his family, neighbors, and friends. He enjoyed going elk hunting in the Wind River Mountains of Wyoming.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ann; children, Richard (Carol) and Mary; grandchildren, Brian (Dot), Kyle (Michael), and Kelsey (Mark) Pavlidis; great-grandson, Aleks Moler; siblings, Ann Leininger (Cheyenne, WY) and Tom Moler (Pahrump, NV). He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Theresa, Marie, Harold, Neva, Agnes, Jim, and Clarence.
Memorial donations may be made to Central Wyoming Senior Services, 1831 E. 4th St, Casper, WY 82601 or the charity of your choice.
