John J. Milne, 85, of Casper, Wyoming, passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at his home on the family farm.
Memorial services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, March 1, at the Christian Church of Casper, with visitation one hour prior to the service starting at 1 PM. There will be time for fellowship and light refreshments following the service. The Christian Church of Casper is located at 8188 Zero Road, Casper, WY 82604.
John was born in Casper, Wyoming, to the pioneer family of Tom D. Milne Sr. and Theresa “Tessie” Milne. He grew up on the family ranch at Muddy Creek alongside his older brother Tom W. Milne, and Margaret A. Milne. He attended a country school up to the 6th grade, later graduating from Natrona County High School in 1957. While growing up, he enjoyed boxing and later wrestling in high school. As a graduation gift, his mother took him to Scotland and Paris, where he came back with several interesting stories. John continued to work on the family ranch and later served in the Air Guard, returning to the family ranch after his service. John and his father, Tom D. Milne, completed their Scottish Rites in Cheyenne, one of his proudest achievements, having completed it with his father. John loved to throw a line and spent many hours fishing the ranch’s streams: Coral Creek for trout, or Smith Creek for brookies. John enjoyed teasing people and a good joke. He cherished his family and did everything he could to enrich their lives.
John is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Milne of Casper, WY; son, Jim (Laura) Milne of Casper, WY; daughter, Jamie (Jason) Adkins of Houston, TX; six grandchildren: Katlyn Adkins, Chris Adkins, Brandon Adkins, Tessa (Judd) Brooks, Maggie Milne, and Kellun Milne; one great-grandchild, Jenny; and numerous great-nieces and nephews—all of whom he loved and enjoyed spending time with.
John was preceded in death by both his parents and his siblings.
Memorial donations may be made to Shriners Children’s, PO Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394.
