John Thomas Kuhn, Jr. was born October 1, 1939 in Casper, Wyoming to John Thomas Kuhn, Sr. and Charlotte Humborg. He had three brothers, Don, Bill and Dick. When he grew up he attended Casper schools and graduated from Natrona County High School. While in high school he joined the Photography Club and the ROTC. He enjoyed the ROTC and shortly after high school, in February of 1961, he enlisted in the Air Force. He served as a Medical Services Specialist. He was honorably discharged in 1967. He then transferred into the reserves to help with college expenses. His more memorable experience in the reserves was flying active duty missions with the 187th AEF during the Viet Nam Was. He also worked very hard in the Unit Disaster Preparedness office for 11 years of his service. During his reserve service, he attended Casper College and received an Associates Degree. He went on to the University of Wyoming and received a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. He then began employment at the Internal Revenue Service in Casper. This was his lifetime work which he retired from in 1994. Just before college graduation, a friend introduced him to Alice Hill Cassinat, a divorcee with six children. In less than an hour he knew he had met the love of his life. If he proved he was a brave man in his military service, he certainly proved it on June 26, 1971 when he married Alice and enlisted for a lifetime tour of duty being a father to her six children. After they raised those children, John and Alice enjoyed traveling across the country in their motor home until they discovered cruising the sea and other parts of the world. During his life, John was seldom seen without a camera around his neck. He loved gadgetry and the latest camera equipment. Then he discovered computers and never tired of the latest and greatest the computer world had to offer. After many wonderful years and times together, their health began to fail. Alice passed away December 15, 2011. John was devastated. He passed away April 4, 2012 at his home. His children will always believe he died from a broken heart. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice, his brother William and his parents. He is survived by his children, Linda Cassinat Mann, Shelly Cassinat Ritthaler, Joseph "Pepe" Cassinat, John Cassinat, Tony Cassinat, Eric Cassinat, two brothers, Don Kuhn and Dick Kuhn, numerous children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
