John Barrett

John Barrett, 58, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, March 22 at Central Wyoming Hospice. John was born August 5, 1960 in Jeffersonville, IN to Grover and Lillian (Olinger) Barrett. Growing up, his family moved several times between Southern Indiana and Arizona, eventually settling in Phoenix, AZ. There, he worked in the restaurant industry and for Swift transportation. In 1990 John moved to Casper, Wyoming to be closer to his mother. He met and married Ginger Shambaugh in 1993. Together they raised his son and two more children. John worked for Big Wyoming GMC and Coliseum Motors for nearly 20 years. After surviving lung cancer, John and Ginger moved to Pensacola, Florida in 2016 to enjoy warmer winters. They remained there until John's disease returned, and the couple came home to Casper. John enjoyed golfing, cooking, camping, fishing, traveling, and summer BBQ's with friends and family. He had the ability to strike up a conversation, and find common ground with anyone he met. He is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Lindsay Barrett, his siblings Steven Barrett, Kathy Boldt, David Barrett, Donald Barrett, Dorothy Adams, and Bill Barrett. He is survived by his loving wife Ginger, his children Jeremy Barrett of Casper, Kayleigh Barrett of Basalt, CO, and Dennis Barrett of Casper, his siblings, Barbara Branstetter of Jeffersonville, IN, Jim Barrett of Jeffersonville, IN, Karen Schneider of Henryville, IN, Rick Barrett of Henryville, IN, step-brother Bob Greenley of Mills, Stephanie Cockrum, mother of Jeremy and Lindsay, 3 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 PM on Friday, March 29, 2019 at First Christian Church in Casper.
