Joan “Joanie” St. Claire Treder, age 92, passed away in Casper, Wyoming, on May 6th, 2024. Joanie was born in Charleston, South Carolina on November 28th, 1931, to Harry and Myrtle Lovejoy. Harry was a Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy, so Joanie and her 3 older siblings were Navy “brats”. They lived in many places during her early childhood including a short stay in both Cheyenne and Rock Springs, Wyoming, after Harry’s retirement. When World War Two broke out Harry was recalled and they settled in San Diego, California. After high school, Joanie married Arthur S Treder of Idaho Springs, Colorado, in 1951. They moved to Denver, Colorado, and remained married until Arthur’s passing in 2001. She moved to Casper, Wyoming in 2016. Joanie loved the outdoors, the mountains, fishing, camping, and 4-wheeling. In her later years she loved going out to dinner, wildlife watching, slot machines, and visiting with her extended family. She was adventurous, fearless, and determined to do things on her own terms. She loved with her whole heart and will be truly missed by all who met and knew her.
Joanie is survived by her son James Treder and her daughter in love Teresa Thrasher of Casper, Wyoming, her closest friends, JoAnn Simms of Fort Collins, Colorado and Angela Short of Casper, Wyoming. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews across the country, plus many grandchildren, and great grandchildren she loved as her own.Visits: 174
