Jo Anne Tompkins Schanck walked into God's loving arms on October 17, 2016. Services will be officiated at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Jo Anne was born in Luraville, Florida on July 22, 1937. She was one of 9 children of John Paul and Leila Tompkins. Jo Anne married Everett C. (Butch) Schanck, Jr. on October 7, 1977 and enjoyed 33 wonderful years of marriage prior to Butch's death. Jo Anne's interests were varied. As a youth, she enjoyed a variety of sports and continued to enjoy sports as an adult. She was a skier and a bowler, and enjoyed teaching children the art of bowling. In her professional life, she was an executive and legal secretary. Jo Anne's personal life was a dedication to her family, her pets and her friends. With the advent of the internet, she found friends worldwide. She was active in her church and enjoyed quilting. Her step daughters lovingly referred to her as a QVC Queen. She is survived by her son, Zane Gray, step daughters Shealyn Counts and Lisadiana Bates (Matt), her father-in-law Everett C. Schanck, Sr., her 5 grand children, together with numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sisters Olive Clarice (Jo) Burval, Joyce (Steve) Deardon, and Jeanette (Randall) Trowell, her brothers John (Helen) Tompkins, Paul (Kim) Tompkins, her sister-in-law Karen Harden, and her brother-in-law Norman Schanck. She is preceded in death by her husband, Everett C. (Butch) Schanck, Jr., her parents John Paul and Leila Tompkins, her brothers Charles Stewart, Benjamin Tompkins, and Thomas Tompkins. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to your local Humane Society.
