Jinx Clark went to be with her Lord and Savior the afternoon of December 21, 2024. She died in the loving arms of her sister Kim. Just days before her death, Jinx left the following message for those who will deeply miss her: “I know that Jesus holds me and that’s why I’m so sure of going to heaven. I am so very thankful.”
Jinx Falkenhagen Clark was born in Galveston, Texas, on December 16, 1957, to Clarence E. and Helen Colner Falkenhagen. She graduated from Galveston's Ball High School in 1976, where she was particularly proud of her place on the “World Famous Ball High School Tornettes” drill team. Following high school, Jinx attended the University of Texas at Austin and earned a degree in accounting. She was a lifelong Texas Longhorn fan.
In 1981, Jinx was commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy. She served our country with honor as both an intelligence and communications officer. Jinx was stationed on the Northwest Cape of Australia, the highest point of Oahu, Hawaii, and in Alameda, California. She attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
After leaving the Navy in 1990, Jinx met and married the love of her life,
Lincoln Clark V. The couple built a life in San Leandro, California. Lincoln’s adult children lovingly welcomed Jinx into the Clark family. Lincoln and Jinx opened their hearts and home to their foster son, Jakob Hirsbrunner and raised him as their own. Both were involved in several ministries at the Neighborhood Church in Castro Valley.
Jinx’s heart was broken in 2003 when her beloved husband suddenly passed away. After Lincoln’s death, she moved to Wyoming to be closer to her sister Kim. Jinx had no idea that this move would lead to a new, distinguished career. U.S. Senator Craig Thomas hired Jinx to work in his Rock Springs field office. Following the Senator’s passing in 2007, Jinx moved to Casper to work for the U.S. Senator John Barrasso. She was a loyal and faithful colleague until the time of her death, serving as the Senator’s state scheduler, state director and top aide, and director of state scheduling and logistics.
Jinx loved living in central Wyoming surrounded by the wide open spaces and Casper Mountain. During the short summers she could be found floating the Platte River, camping and walking her beloved dog.
All who knew Jinx realized she was an angel on earth. She had a huge heart and gave freely of her time and her wisdom. She was a pillar in her church and a trusted colleague at work. Sewing stunning dresses for the little girls in her life and organizing amazing baby and wedding showers showcased Jinx’s creative skills and brought her so much joy. She nurtured friendships with people from all walks of life. Curling up with her beloved cats Jack and Bitsy and a good book in hand provided Jinx hours of enjoyment and made her a valued book group member. While it will be challenging for those Jinx has left behind, we can look to the example of her life and the love she shared. We are fortunate to benefit from Jinx’s shining example of Christ’s love.
The family is forever grateful to the loving friends and compassionate caregivers during Jinx’s short cancer journey. Special appreciation to; E. Fahed, MD and the oncology staff at Rocky Mountain Oncology, Sarah Peak, FNP and the WyoCity Medical Group, Interventional Radiology at Wyoming Banner Health, J.Paul Jones, MD, and Central Wyoming Hospice. Finally, Jinx was blessed by the loving support of Team Barrasso.
Jinx is survived by her sister Kim Branson and brother Bill (Kathy) Falkenhagen; son Jakob (Jamie) Hirsbrunner and their sons; nephews Kyle (Graceann) Falkenhagen, Kurt Falkenhagen, and Mark Branson; the Clark family, Mike (Karen) Clark, Phil (Carole) Clark, Steve (Allison) Clark, and Wendy (Tim) Fosnaugh and the Clark grandchildren Sarah, Emily, Molly, Megan, Tyler, Jennifer, and Nicole.
