Jesse Shutts

April 30, 1993 — June 17, 2017

Casper, Wyoming - Jesse Michael Shutts, 24, passed away in his sleep on June 17, 2017. Jesse was born in Casper, Wyoming on April 30, 1993. He was an incredibly intelligent and creative person from a very early age. Like his dad, he was an avid sports fan, particularly of the Denver Broncos. With the encouragement of his dad, he participated in many different sports growing up, but his true talent was running. He excelled in high school track and cross country at Natrona County High School, where he graduated in 2011. He also attended and ran cross country for Gillette community college. When he was 7, a sister joined Jesse, Gretchen M. Shutts, who became his biggest fan. Gretchen loved her big brother and spent the beginning of her life in the stands cheering him on for many high school sporting events and later in life, encouraging him in his endeavors. Jesse was always hyper aware of how much Gretchen looked up to him. Jesse was passionate about creating, whether on canvas, with pencil and paper, piano, guitar, computer, or the crafting of a joke. Piano lessons and art class were merely a springboard for the ideas that came from his brilliant mind. While he may have frustrated his teachers with his lack of enthusiasm for assignments, they never doubted the intelligence that existed in his mind or his ability to get done whatever he wanted to do in life. Jesse spent his last days camping and hiking, something he always loved to do. Jesse is survived by his mom and dad, John and Deborah Shutts, sister, Gretchen Shutts, his birth mother Jinna Baker-Medley, his daughter Charlee Rae, two sets of grandparents (MaryLou and Jack Barrows /Stephen and Mary Sandborgh) numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him very much. A funeral for Jesse will be held at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church, Casper, Wyoming on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 10:30AM with burial following at Highland Cemetery.
