Jesse Oran Powell, born August 25, 1925, has passed away on October 28, 2011, surrounded by his children. He was born the oldest of two children in Richland Springs, Texas, to Charlie and Marjory Baker Powell. He grew up in Texas. He loved driving truck and doing mechanic work on vehicles to keep them in running order while growing into a fine young man. He met Tempie Terry, and her daughter, Jacquelynn Leah Cavnes in 1952 and they were married on July 3, 1954. They had four children Virginia, Jesse, Charlena, and Dalton. They also fostered Mylinda Fringer. Oran (as he was known by friends and family) drove truck for J.W. Gady for several years until 1956. He was then employed by Tom Synder at the City Garage in Van Horn, Texas from 1957-1961. Also St. Angelo Truck & Tractor employed Oran from 1961 - 1969 where he won many awards for his mechanical abilities. In 1969, Oran joined and worked at Elenburg Exploration for 33 years as the shop foreman and head mechanic. He retired from Elenburg in 2002. He lost his beloved wife (Tempie), friend and love of his life on May 20, 2003. He continued to be an important head of his family as he loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved to travel, watch old westerns and listen to old western music. He continued to drive and was always up for the trip. He is survived by a half sister (June Windham, Odessa, Texas) his children, Jackie Watkins, New Braunfels, Texas, Ginger Kuhlman, Jesse Powell, Charlena Rauch, Dalton Powel, and Mylinda Fringer all of Casper, Wyoming, seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, brother (Thomas Dalton) and his wife. He loved Jesus and would share his life with anyone who he would come in contact with. He was a hard, conscientious worker who took pride in everything he did. He was honest, trustworthy, and proud to honor his family, his employer and those he called friend. He will be greatly missed in this life. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A memorial celebration of this life will be held in August, 2012.
