Jerry Evans VanNorman was born on November 30, 1941 in Edgerton, WY and passed away peacefully with his family at his side in Casper, WY at the age of 69 on Thursday, March 31, 2011 in Casper, WY after a 10 year battle with kidney disease. Jerry was one of four children born to Gerald C. & Ileah (Evans) VanNorman and was the beloved husband of Thoma Koleta (Dickey) VanNorman for over 51 years, having been married on November 6, 1959 in Billings, MT. Jerry will forever be remembered by his loving and devoted wife Koleta of the family home in Midwest, WY; beloved children Barbara (James) McConahay of Baggs, WY, Jerry "Bud" VanNorman of Casper, WY, Angela (Elmer) Pacheco of Midwest, WY, Stephen (Cathy) VanNorman of Edgerton, WY and David VanNorman of Rock Springs, WY; treasured grandchildren Tanya (Clay) Evans, Stephanie (Ryan) Bishop, Miles (Joyce) Vase, Christopher (Willow) VanNorman, Evan (Randi) VanNorman, Kamden VanNorman, Brittany Spaulding, Brice VanNorman, Vincent and Ramon Pacheco, Jason and Adam VanNorman, Andrew Buzick, Kristen Whelan, Skyler and Nicholas VanNorman; cherished great-grandchildren Aspen, Easton, Emalee, Mason, Hunter, Aiden, Joshua, Payton, Alex, Sebrina, Samantha, James, Kaitlyn, Nathan, Hailey, Wyatt and Jayden; sister Patricia (VanNorman) Reich of Brush, CO and his caring mother-in-law Ma Dickey of Casper, WY along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends who were blessed to know him. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Wanda Ridley, infant brother Larry VanNorman and two grandsons, Joshua VanNorman and Michael McConahay. Jerry worked in the oilfields all his life starting at the age of 15 when he worked alongside his father building derricks and working on workover rigs. Jerry was raised in Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and Wyoming, traveling with the family wherever the work would take them. He attended Natrona County High School his freshman year and began his lifelong career in the oilfields soon after working for Pickering Well Service, Franks Well Service, Dunbar Well Service, Key Well Service, and J & R Well Service. During those years he worked as a roustabout, operator, toolpusher, and as an area supervisor, retiring in May of 2004. Jerry enjoyed the times spent with family during the many fishing and camping trips and also enjoyed golfing, bowling and darts as well as being a Little League baseball coach. Jerry touched the lives of many people throughout his life with his smile and generosity and maintained his trademark sense of humor to his last day. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service, which will be officiated by his son-in-law James McConahay, on Friday, April 8th, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Edgerton Town Hall, 311 N. 2nd St., Edgerton, WY.
