Jerry Beckstead

June 29, 1940 — March 16, 2016

Jerry Delmar Beckstead passed away on March 16, 2016 at the age of 75 at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, WY surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born on June 29, 1940 to Arland Harrison Beckstead and Leona Pansy (Humphrey) Beckstead in Sandy, Utah. He had 4 sisters and 1 brother. He grew up in the Sandy area which is where he met Gayle Jarman while attending Sandy Jr. High School. Jerry and Gayle were married on August 17, 1957 at the tender age of 16. They moved to Glenrock, WY in 1971 where Jerry worked as an ironworker for the power plant and they raised their four children. While living in Glenrock, he opened and operated several businesses, which included Shaw Fireplace Manufacturing, Beckstead's Fireplace and Things and Games People Play. He was city councilman for the Town of Glenrock for 4 years and also mayor of Glenrock in 1980-81. Jerry enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing and traveling. He also enjoyed spending time at their cabin on Casper Mountain and riding ATV's along the trails. Above all else, Jerry was a family man. He loved spending time with his family which grows bigger by the year. Jerry is survived by his wife, Gayle and their four children, Lynette (David) Woodward of Bluffdale, UT, Brian (Sandy) Beckstead of Glenrock, WY, Todd (Sarah) Beckstead of Casper, WY and Jamie (Ron) Sullivan of Douglas, WY. He also survived by 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren with one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings-- Wanda, Bev, Geniel, Gail, and Diane. Private family viewing will be held at Bustard's Funeral Home on Sunday, March 20th from 5:00-7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 21st at 11:00 am at the Glenrock Recreation Center gym at 412 S. 4th Street.
